Monday 1/31/11

I havent blogged about my day in a while so here goes.

Today woke up surprisingly easily for PT this morning at 5:20. I changed and went to PT, played volleyball, did calisthenics, and then ran. I love Hybrid days cuz it’s not too hard but then I still get a good workout.

Came back took a shower and went to Physics at 9:05. I can never concentrate in my physics class because I can’t really understand my teacher (Unco Same) and so i just end up playing on my iTouch or on my laptop.

After Physics had Math (Calc) and fell asleep for the first time in that class. Didn’t do much. Just deriving natural log functions and chain rule and all that stuff. Old news. (I will never enjoy Math class as much as I did in Mr. Owens class. sigh… oh well)

So after that I finished up some homework that was due for my next class and some online homework and then tried to take a nap. Didn’t really work out well cuz my friend’s cell phone kept calling me… but yeah.

So then I went to my Engineering Programming class (MATLAB) and did some ICA’s (In Class Activities) and this dude sitting beside me was copying my stuff but who cares.

Last was my Physics Lab. but before that, I had an hour or so, so I had already typed up the format and questions for the Lab and decided to type up the excel charts to speed things up. BECAUSE I have intramural ultimate frisbee games at 6… and my lab is from 3:30-6:30. My group finished around 5:45 and I made it in time for the game. (I probably will be late for most of the games here on out though :/)

Even though I had 2.5 goals (2.5 because on one goal me and this other guy caught it at the same time) we ended up with a disappointing loss of 5-10. I want to experience a win this time at least once. Lets go Cool HWHIP! (name of our team)

and then I went and bought a gatorade, excuse me, POWERADE and went to subway bought myself a turkey melt, slightly toasted with lettuce, onions, bell peppers, jalapeno peppers, oil, salt&pepper, and oregano. Went to my dorm, ate it, was still hungry so right now I’m eating Bowl Noodle!

oh yeah. after frisbee, I overheard the other team saying, “All right guys, lets close it up with prayer.” Pretty awesome if I have to say so myself!

But yeah. that’s whatsup. gotta do homework after my lamyun, ramen or however you wanna spell it. so yeah

God Bless to whoever actually reads these!

At least I didn't have to go to class

So how about my professor e-mails me 10 minutes before class that the room we are in today is switched. and by the time i open the e-mail, i’m already sitting in the original classroom confused because of the unfamiliar faces at my table.

not only that, but also in the e-mail he tells us that attendance is optional.

so i just wasted bout 25 minutes walking to and from my class.

A friend sent this story and thought it was a good story to share:

One day, when I was a freshman in high school,

I saw a kid from my class was walking home from school.

His name was Kyle.

It looked like he was carrying all of his books.

I thought to myself,…

Fighting For Holiness - Ben Stuart

Devil’s lie - if you love life, you have to run from the author of life.

2 Timothy 2:22 says, (22 Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.) Spirituality is one movement with two parts.
When you move AWAY from something, you have to move TOWARDS something. FLEE evil desires and PURSUE righteousness.

James 1:14 (14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.) He creates temptations specifically for us because he knows us.
Satan knows our minds and affections, wills, and tendencies and his goal is to get you to sin.

For temptations: In Romans 13:14 it says, (14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.) In order to do this, Eliminate the moment that leads to your temptation if you can not get rid of the temptations itself. And if needed, Eliminate the moment that leads to the moment that leads to your temptation! Ask yourself “what gets you there?”
It is very difficult to get rid of your temptations so (14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.) James 5:16
Load your mind with thoughts of God in order to fuel the affection towards God both consistently and creatively.

The Reason you have sin is because you are not dead.

Stay strong in the Word. God Bless

away and towards.

Philippians 3:13-14
13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

2 Timothy 2:22
22 Flee the evil desires of youth and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace, along with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

When you’re running away from something, make sure you pursue something because if you don’t, then you’re stranded with nothing and more vulnerable to fall back even harder and end up worse than before.

Run away from Sin and go towards God.

Appetite - Andy Stanley

Because we have no idea of God’s potential for our life, we should not give in to our appetite. Your appetite will either rule you, or be ruled by you.

Your response will determine the direction and quality of your life.

1) God created appetite, and sin distorted it.
2) Appetites are never fully and finally satisfied.
3) Your appetite always whispers, “Now,” never, “Later.”

IMPACT BIAS takes a simple appetite and Magnifies it out of proportion.
Every day of our lives, we will want to trade over our future for some appetite. (Esau traded over his birthright for a bowl of stew, appetite ruled his life.)

So “Don’t trade your future for a bowl of soup!” -Andy Stanley

Does your manner of life equal that to the word of God? - Francis Chan

Philippians 1:27 says (27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm in the one Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel)

Your manner of life should be equal to the word of God. If we believe in God then we should live our life as God exists.

Another way to put it is that if we believe in Hell, then when people look at our lives, they should be able to tell that we believe that. How can I say I believe in God when my life doesn’t reflect that at all times? I can’t believe in God sometimes and not believe in Him at other times.

Revelations 3:15-16 says (15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.) God would rather us be “cold” than be lukewarm.

So lets live our lives to reflect our God!

Circumstances can’t chain your from being free and fully alive - Louie Giglio

Philippians 1:12-30 is titled “Paul’s Chains Advance the Gospel.” In verses 12-14 it says (12 Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. 13 As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guardand to everyone else that I am in chains for Christ. 14 And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.) Paul wanted the Philippians to know that God’s blessing and power were still with him, even though he was in prison. He was not out of the will of God, and God’s work still continued. This shows that circumstances can’t keep you from being “free” and “fully alive.”

Choosing Jesus is denying(not choosing) other desires. Choosing him is being chained away from other desires.

As John Piper says, “God is most Glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him,” [no matter the circumstance of our lives]. Things that happen around us should not stop us from praising God.

Passion 2011 Atlanta

Passion 2011 Atlanta was such an eye opener. My world was turned upside down. Before Passion, my perspective was so wrong and distorted. Even though a lot of it was a reiteration of something I already knew, I still learned so much. From Passion, I didn’t come back with an attitude with I need to change this and that about my life, but HOW do I need to change this and what can I do to change that about my life?

Passion 2011 along with other events, retreats and revivals are not about the loud music, the powerful speakers, the amazing bands, it’s not about all the new friends you make. It’s all about God and glorifying His name.

I’ve learned so much from Passion 2011!
